Initial Thoughts
After a traumatic experience in her childhood, Saffirye Maddox was sent to see a well known child psychologist, Roan Fours. They had a great client-patient relationship because Saffirye had been seeing him every week for three years. This then changed when Dr. Fours thought it would be best for them to stop seeing each other because - in his eyes - she was better. Weather or not this was true was up for questioning, but whats not up for questioning is weather or not Saffirye was upset about this decision. Once the decision was made Roan stopped seeing Saffirye, but Saffirye did not stop seeing Roan. She followed him around town and knew all of his secrets. After multiple girls around town came up as missing Saffiyre knew the information that she had was important. She was going to reveal it until one night she went missing. What happened to her? Where did she go? What did she know? Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell will hopefully reveal the answers to all of these questions. I have not finished reading this book yet, but I have confidence that all of the questions will be answered.
Although I have not finished Invisible Girl yet I have formed my initial opinions on it. When I first started reading this book I was very interested in the plot, but as I have continued to read it I have been a little disappointed. The author did a very good job at the beginning of the book by giving us the background needed and the plot was progressing. Sadly, after the beginning the plot and characters both seemed to come to a point where they were no longer changing which made it hard to continue reading the book. The main characters have not evolved much throughout the book, which, once again, makes the book not engaging and difficult to keep interest in enough to keep reading. The way that the plot has not progressed since the middle of the book has made it seem like the story is just getting dragged out. It has also made the ending kind of predictable, which is sad considering how interesting the plot could have been. On the flip side, I have liked a few things about Invisible Girl. One part of the book that I have enjoyed is how the point of view's switch between the characters. This has made the book semi interesting for me and is what has got me to keep reading as far as I have. Overall, I am still interested in seeing how the story will end, but I just have to be able to get back into reading the book again which may be difficult. The way that the story has been set up has been disappointing, but I have some hop for the ending as it seems like it could be leading up to something.
