Books to Read in 2022
As it is only the beginning of the year I honestly I haven't put too much thought into the year, but I do have a few books in mind that I would like to read at some point throughout the year. I have set a few goals in my reading for the year. My first goal is that I would like to read 22 books. I feel like this goal is a good one for me because it is more than last years goal of twenty, which I reached in late November. Another one of my other goals for the year is to read more non-fiction books. So far, I have read two books in 2022 and they have both been nonfiction. In 2021 almost all of the books I read were fiction so I think making it a goal to branch out and read more nonfiction is a good one to set for myself.
A few of the top books I would like to read this year are..
- A Danger to Herself and Others
A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel is a book that I have wanted to read since last year. I want to read this book because it seems like an interesting story with different little twists in it. It seems to be a mystery type book, but it also talks about mental health and a bit of the stigma around it. I am interested in this book because it is combining a couple of the things that I like to read about into one book.
- Truly Devious
In 2022 I would like to read Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. I want to read this book because I love a good mystery and this is a relatively highly rated one. Also, the description of it reminds me a bit of a book that I have read before and a TV show that I watched that I liked. All in all, I would love to read this book to see if it is something I enjoy enough to read the sequels that follow.
- Everything I Never Told You
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng is a seemingly interesting book to me. The book is about a girl - Lydia - who is found dead in a lake. Lydia is keeping her family together, so when they find her dead everything goes spiraling downwards. I am interested in reading this book because people have rated it pretty highly and it seems like a nice fictional family drama that has a serious aspect to it as well. Also, it showcases diversity in a time period where it was not commonly seen and I think in many cases that would play a part in the story.
- The Project
The Project by Courtney Summers is another book I would like to read during 2022. I have wanted to read this book since last year when it first came out. Truthfully, I probably would have read it by now, but I am not the biggest fan of hardcover books. Regardless of that though, I would like to read this book because not only is Courtney Summers an author I really enjoy, but the plot of the book seems interesting too. The story seems to be about how one persons life can completely change in a moment and everything they thought they knew they are unsure of now. It also seems to highlight the relationship between two sisters and how important they are to each other.
- Amelia Unabridged
Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher is yet another book that I have been wanting to read for while now. This seems like it would be a fitting book to me, given the synopsis of it. Its about the loss of someone and finding them again within a book and an author. It sounds interesting to me because she will have to find her way to deal with the loss and try and figure out if there was more to it and if there was something her best friend was trying to tell her all along. I am definitely looking forward to hopefully reading this at some point this year.
