Romeo and Juliet

Final Thoughts

This week I finished reading Romeo and Juliet and these are my final thoughts on it. I read the rest of the book starting from act 3, scene 3, and in this time a lot of things happened in the story. Right after Juliet found out that Romeo was banished she conspired with the nurse and was luckily able to see him one last time. After this though, things got a little tougher because Juliet's dad wanted her to marry Paris. This left Juliet not knowing what to do, and at first she was going to kill herself just to get out of it. That was until Friar Lawrence came up with a plan that was supposed to work to get the two together once again. As soon as he told her the plan I was a little weary about it because it didn't seem like it was a great idea. Shortly later I found out that I was right to be cautious about it. Because of a miscommunication, Romeo did not know the plan, so he ended up getting a poison that would kill him so he could be with 'dead' Juliet. This of course led to the death of Paris via Romeo, then the death of Romeo from his poison, and the death of Juliet by Romeo's dagger. This was not expected. I had a feeling that the plan would not work, but I didn't think that it would go that badly. I was even more surprised at the fact that Paris was there and Romeo killed him. Overall, that whole scene was very shocking and there was a lot going on. After that, when everyone found them dead and they realized how stupid their conflict was, I was even more surprised to see that the death of their children brought them together. While I didn't see it coming, I am happy that the story ended the way that it did. I knew that they both died in the end, but I had no clue how it would go into it or that Paris would also be killed. I think that the families coming together at the end was probably the best possible outcome, even though their children had to die for it to happen. All in all, Romeo and Juliet was a really good book and I am happy that I got to read it.
